Sanuk Yoga Mat Flip Flops. A Salts Eco Fashion Review.

We have just received the Sanuk Yoga Mat flip flops with Power Balance technology in at the Salts Clothing Shop in Sooke BC. I always like to try new product out before carry them. These flip flops are bang on. Definitely the most comfortable that I have ever owned. Made with a yoga mat as a sole they keep you on solid ground with a thick bottom and comfortable straps. Nice clean look and and cushy for sure. Check out PowerBalance.net for info on the Power Balance emblem. The Sanuk Yoga Mat flip flop is available in Men's and Women's sizes. Shop for them online in the Salts Shop. I will definilty be sporting these for years to come.

Peace and Soles.

Hey guys and girls!

It’s Mackenzie here, I’m part of the Salts team in beautiful Sooke, British Columbia! I figured I should share a funny little experience I had last weekend. Last Saturday I ended up at a party here in Sooke, and I met a girl named Sara who had just moved here from Ottawa. We were doing the whole “awkward chit chat” when we came up to the inevitable, “Oh, where do you work?” question. I said I worked at an organic boutique in Sooke. It turns out that this girl had done a project on this very store for a class she took in university, on eco friendly products. She informed me that she will be coming in and that Salts had inspired her to live a more eco friendly life. What are the chances that Sara from Ottawa would have chose to do a project on Salts Studio Boutique, located in a quant little town of Sooke, and the chances we would be at the same, random party needless to say karma had blown my mind! Anyways, I will part with some wise words from a 19 year old girl: keep educated on the eco-friendly products, if not to make a difference, then to boost up some awkward small talk with a random stranger.

Stay beautiful!

The Heart of a Soap Crafter. What really goes into natural healthy soaps?

I recently sat down for a visit with Divine Goddess Soap Artist Lisa. She has a talent for soap making like none I have ever tried. Beautiful Natural and hand crafted. Here's what she had to say about her soaps.

What are your top 5 favorite ingredients and why?

All the ingredient would be my favorite because after creating a natural product I began to understand what it was I liked. I love the rich lather and natural fragrances I get from hand made soap. I love interesting fragrance combinations and ingredients different from what I can find elsewhere. I love the confidence I get from knowing I am not washing with harsh chemicals, strange perfumes and dyes.

Where does the name Divine Goddess come from?

The small hobby of mine was getting out of hand, so I decided start a home based business and the name "Divine Goddess Naturals" represents my committment providing the best natural product possible using only essential oils, natural oils, rich butters, pure beeswax, clay, herbs and spices.

How long have you been making soap?

Over 10 years, Divine Goddess Naturals got its unofficial start in 1997 in Sooke B.C.

What do you wear when making soap (hehe)?

I prefer to wear comfortable all natural house clothes..... and of course safety goggles and gloves.

What are the benefits of your soaps?

Natural soap is so very different from commercial soap. I was impressed after trying the real thing, made by myself. Most commercial soaps left me feeling dry and kinda sticky, but my handmade soap was different. I felt skweaky clean, but not dry. My skin looked great and the handmade soap smelled great, not overpowering and chemical. I love Divine Goddess Naturals, and I know you will too. Be Natural, Be Beautiful, Be a Goddess!

Thanks for your time Lisa! You can get Lisa's Divine Goddess Soaps at the Salts Studio in Sooke, BC or shop in our online store at www.SaltsOrganic.com/shop.

Whats is Eco Fashion you ask? Well, the Sustainable Technology Education Project which is a non-profit organization that "aims to increase people's awareness of sustainable technology, enabling them to recognize the economic, environmental and social impacts of their own technology choices." has an opinion. They say that Eco-Fashions are clothing that " that take into account the environment, the health of consumers and the working conditions of people in the fashion industry.” . Great definition.

Here are some of the key Eco-Fashion pieces from Salts Organic Clothing this Spring 2009. These items will be available in stores accross Canada and the US in May 2009. For a listin of stores where Salts is available please go to the Salts Clothing website. You can also buy Salts online on

Last but not least is the Dandylion tube in black and the Leaf Skirt in Crimson red. Both items are currently available on Etsy.com. The skirt again can be work as a great tube tunic style top.
