The Salts Eco Tip of the Week. Save Money and the Environment by helping you food last longer.

Did you know that most North Americans send 14% of their food to the dump as trash? This is because it spoils before we eat it. Try these neat tips to save food and money.

-Put you Champagne grapes in the freezer, they last much longer and taste like mini Popsicles when you eat them

-Plan a menu for the week. Do you shopping in one trip with a menu planned and a list. This will prevent extra spending and also help you to only buy things that you will eat in one week.

-Grow your own foods. Try growing a few things, food stays fresh longer in the garden and you can pick it as you need it.

-Store your fruits and Veggies separately. Fruits speed the ripening of veggies because the release the gas ethylene.

-Evert-Fresh Bags - reusable produce bags with a clay lining that absorbs gases that cause produce to decompose ($6/10 10-gallon bags). Check them out at ReusableBags.com.

Thanks for reading our tips this week. See you next week.

Salts Attends the Whole Foods Pacific Northwest Holiday Buying show. Organic Sustainable Goodies at their Best!

What bigger honor could there be! Salts was asked to attend the Whole Foods Holiday buying show last week. It was an amazing event held at the Hotel Deca in Seattle. The Hotel Deca is fabulous place covered in great art and design details. They prepared a yummy buffet lunch for us that gave the term "buffet" a new definition. Totally gourmet. Hailey (super sales Salts lover) and I traveled to Seattle from Victoria on the Victoria Clipper. Definitely something I would do again. The boat goes around 30 knots and is really smooth, you can sit back and have a drink or eat. The trip takes about 3 1/2 hours. They have great hotel/ travel packages, I will definitly use them for travel needs in the future.

Hailey and I met with all the Team Leaders from Whole Foods Vancouer locations. Salts will be available at the Cambie location in September 2009. They will be carrying most of our woman's line and also the coveted much-loved organic bamboo Chubby Bubbies Leg and Noggin Cozies. Whole Foods has a great blog with recipes and healthy organic sustainable living advice. We are so excited to have our clothing at Whole Foods, if you would like to be notified when Salts is arriving at Whole Foods Olive location on Cambie please email me at info (at) SaltsOrganic.com.
