Hey kids!

September is here! I’m sitting here trying to write a blog, an original blog at that. And I can’t focus because I’m starving, my belly is grumbling to and fro, it’s all very distracting. Needless to say I found my blog subject though. Making healthy lunches for school! Brilliant. Since promises of school are looming over our heads, I’ll run with that.

Growing up as a kid my favorite lunches consisted of Banana- peanut butter sandwiches, an Apple, homemade cookies, trail mix (the kind with the M and M’s), and some sort of juice box or water bottle. Now lets back track, the banana and peanut butter sandwich is a gift from the lunch box gods. It’s easy to make to:

All you need is:
Slightly brown Banana
Organic peanut butter
Whole wheat bread

Now, slather that peanut butter on both pieces of bread. Then cut the banana the long way in three or four slices put it all together and you have a cornucopia of awesomeness.

The organic fruit or veggies are a staple to all lunches. I always loved the apple though, it’s quick and easy. And there is little that is better than a really, really good apple. All crisp, juicy and sweet, num, num, num!

Now for the cookies. I have always said that my mom is the best cookie maker on the planet. Which is true, she makes fantastic cookies. BUT that was before my little sister started to bake. She was kind enough to give me her recipe for every ones favorite cookies.

Shelby’s Famous Wicked Cookies

1 cup of butter
½ cup of white sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups of whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
½ teaspoon of baking powder
Pinch of salt
¾ of rolled oats
2 cups of any sort of cereal, Shelby uses Vector
½ cup of almonds or walnuts chopped
1 cup of coconut
1 cup of Chocolate or Yogurt chips
¾ cup of raisons

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes on 350 degrees F

They are not to junk foodie, and are very filling so they are perfect for recess or break.
When I was a kid I always wanted what my friends had in their lunches, the Lunchables, and the Mr. Noodles and of course the fruit roll up. I’m glad though, now, that my mom always gave us nice home made, healthy organic food for lunch. Now if only she would pack me a lunch for work. Oh well. Gotta get back to work kids, have a good first few weeks of school, remember Salts hoodies are the best looking hoodies around for back to school!

Stay beautiful,
